Unequivocal and Strong No to General Paul Kagame's Third Term.

As expected, Gen Paul Kagame has publicly stated his intentions to run for a third term in 2017 presidential elections. After several months of arm twisting, intimidations, threats, and evasive answers, he has finally shown what his real intentions had been, all along: running for a third term and, potentially, for life.

To achieve this goal, he and his cronies devised a sham popular petition that led to a so-called “referendum”. The “referendum” paved the way for constitutional amendments that would allow him to run for office for a third term.

Opposition Catégorique du CND à tout Amendement Constitutionnel visant  un Troisième Mandat pour le Président Rwandais Sortant.

Bien qu'on s'y attendait, notre Organisation oppose une fin de non-recevoir et catégorique à la résolution du Parlement de Kigali visant à permettre Paul Kagame de briguer un troisième mandat à la Présidence du Rwanda. Au moment où le monde entier en général et plusieurs pays du continent africain en particulier veulent entrer dans la logique d'une alternance politique par la voie des urnes, le dictateur de Kigali veut instaurer un régime hérmetiquement fermé à toute opposition politique démocratique.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the coalition between the Rally for Unity and Democracy (RUD-Urunana) and the Rally for the Rwandan People (RPR-Inkeragutabara), wishes  all Rwandans and Friends of Rwanda Happy holidays and a Happy New Year 2015. The year 2015 should provide an opportunity to renew efforts aimed at bringing peace in the African Great Lakes Region, especially in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda.  As 2015 is about to start,  NDC offers, once again, its contribution to the restoration of durable peace in our region by committing to renewing the missed opportunity provided by the 2008-2009 demobilization and disarmament process of Kasiki, Lubero, in North-Kivu province. NDC also takes the opportunity of solemnly give its position on the military operations planned by MONUSCO against Rwandan refugees starting January 2, 2015.
